Abstracts Submission Criteria
Participants from universities, research institutes, industries, academia, regulatory authorities, and government or private institutions working in the field of Food Safety and Health are invited to submit abstracts. Special encouragement is given to students and young scientists. Submissions may be for oral presentations (15 minutes) or poster communications, focusing on Emerging Contaminants and Planetary Health.
Scientific contributions through abstracts submission will be subjected to a peer review process by the ICFC2025 Scientific Committee members and selected for oral or poster communications. Abstracts’ submissions will only be permitted through the Conference abstract submission platform (ICFC2025 website), taking into account the submission deadline and compliance of the abstract subject with at least one of following ICFC2025 topics:
- Impact of Chemical and Biological Contaminants on Health (occurrence, exposure assessment, biomonitoring);
- Advances for Emerging Contaminants Determination;
- Toxicity Spectrum of Food Contaminants.

Communication to the authors of submission results
Important: Before submitting an abstract, you must first register for the conference.
Up to 2 abstracts per registered participant will be accepted.
Instructions for Preparation of Abstracts:
- The abstract, written in English, should include the title, authors’ full names (indicating the presenting author), affiliation, keywords and main text;
- The main text should be summarized in separate paragraphs for: introduction, methodology, results, conclusions and topic relevance;
- The maximum length of the main text is 350 words (excluding spaces);
- Only abstracts submitted through the online form will be considered;
- Abstract must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.docx) and NOT as a PDF file;
- Page margins must be set as follows: Top = 2.5 cm; Bottom = 2.5 cm; Left = 2.25 cm and Right = 2.0 cm;
- Use Times New Roman font for all text, including headings;
- Specific instructions:
- Title: 14 points, bold, sentence case (capitals for proper nouns only);
- Authors’ names: 11 points; initials of the first name should come after the family name for each author; the presenting author should be underlined; use superscript number to indicate different affiliations;
- Authors’ affiliation: 11 points, sentence case (capitals for first letter and proper nouns only); provide email address of the first or presenting author and each affiliation defined by a superscript number;
- Abstract text: 12 points, maximum 350 words, excluding spaces. Include keywords.
Presentations
Oral presentation
The time for a presentation is limited to 15 min, including discussion; we recommend to use 12 min for the talk and 3 min for discussion.
Poster presentation
Maximum poster size limited to 80 x 120 cm; vertical orientation preferred.
Poster submission until 20-07-2025 is mandatory for book abstracts inclusion and for Best Poster Award.
Note: Registration payment is mandatory for book abstracts inclusion.
Publication opportunities
All accepted abstracts will be published in the Book of Abstracts, edited by INSA and assigned an ISBN.
In addition, authors are invited to submit a full-length article to the special issue titled “Emerging Food Contaminants: A Global Challenge for Health and the Environment” in the journal Food Research International (Special Issue: VSI: ICFC2025).
